Our Path to Portugal
Our Relocation Story
We moved to Portugal in August, 2023
We know all the pain points around making an international move. In February 2023 we signed a lease on our apartment in Portugal. In April 2023, we had our SEF appointment in San Francisco, CA. We went back to Colorado and started selling everything and getting all the last things finalized. We received our Visas in July 2023 and made the official move in August.
What we wished we had.
We used a service to help us get an apartment in Portugal from the United States. While we had an apartment to go to when we arrived, and it was supposedly fully furnished, NOTHING was set up. Fully furnished meant the bare necessities. The mattresses were hard as boards (literally), and we had no kitchen utensils. We didn’t know anyone or where to go to buy the items we needed.
We wished there was a service to accept our packages, wash the sheets, and tell us we needed new mattresses, put the sheets and blankets on the beds so when we arrived exhausted, we had a cozy place to rest before navigating everything else that comes with the move.
We know what you’ll need when you arrive and we can check out your place ahead of time for you. Things that may seem small like airing it out and making sure it doesn’t smell musty if it’s been empty for months. These things rally matter. We are your Portugal welcoming committee and excited to provide you with all the things we wished we had upon our arrival.

Nick Monares
Nick spent the majority of his career in the USA as a diesel mechanic and maintenance lead for a fire department. He maintained all the trucks and buildings. He also flipped houses in his spare time and can fix just about anything. He is now bringing these stills to his life in Portugal.
